Hi Jessica - Sorry for the delay in getting back with you on your Castlewood question.
Technically all of the trails are open. The kicker is accessing all of them. If you go down the river trail, you will eventually come to a section that has no trespassing signs all over it. This is a small access area owned by the railroad. The no trespassing section is very small - but still trespassing. If you make it through this section illegally, you gain access to the Al Foster and Blue Ribbon trails - both are terrific trails. These trails are still open.
There is a way that you can drive around the backside of Castlewood and park at some sort of beach. I did this with Loreen once - she drove so I really can't get you directions. You can then ride the Al Foster and Blue Ribbon trails legally.
Hope this answers your questions.
Take care,
Traci

How many hours/week do you ride? Or would like to?
I ride about 4 to 6 hours a week, however I would like to obviously ride more!
Favorite Bike Trail/Route in STL
I'm still pretty new at this so I haven't found a route I absolutely love.
Who are you?
I'm a financial consultant by day and by night I dream about bike racing. Really, I'm just getting into biking and I'm a total beginner. I just started biking less than 3 months ago and have already bought 3 bikes! I think I have a problem. I just got my road bike and have only ridden it 3 times now and I'm in racing 101 - what am I thinking? Basically, I'm taking my time and enjoying all there is to learn!
